Sober Up
Sober Up
Be not drunk with wine;
It will mock you;
It’s too much for your spirit
Believe me, it’s true.
Stop reeling and rocking
Open your eyes;
Look in the mirror;
That’s no disguise.
Days, months
Weeks and years;
You’ve drowned your sorrows
In bottles of tears.
Where can you run?
Where can you hide?
The problem’s still there
Deep inside.
No drug, no romance
No pleasure on earth
Can cover your sorrow
And fill you with mirth.
Come ye who hurt,
Who are weary and lost;
The wages of sin
Have such a high cost.
What will it be?
Choose you this day.
Sin or the Saviour?
“Yea?” or “Nay?”
Sober up and stand upright
Walk while you have His grace;
He’ll strengthen you in your weakest hour
Strive and you’ll win life’s race.
Catch up, my friend.
Make up for lost time;
Be perfect and entire
Trust in the Lord and walk upright,
And you’ll never return to the mire.
