Let's Reason Together, Saith Thy God!

“You can’t have him!”
“Why not?” I pray;
And God replies,
“Hear what I say.”

“Let’s reason together,
You and I,
Things you don’t see,
You’ll see by and by.”

Something within me
Begins to whine…
“To obey or not?”
The decision is mine.

“JESUS!” I cry,
“What is the wrong?
We love one another
And we get along.”

The Words He chooses
To answer me;
Are words of perfect
Clarity:

“I don’t condone
The feelings you share.”
It’s hard to hear
And it’s hard to bear.

“What seems so pure
And right to you;
Is a trap – a snare…
What I say is true.”

“Satan desires
To sift you as wheat;
To steal your Faith
Which you both seek.”

“Break off this union
Before it’s conceived,
And you lose what you gained
Renounce it, I plead.”

“My Jesus, My Lord,
Forgive me right now;
Be merciful, Saviour,
As I bow.”
