A MOTHER'S DAY PRAYER
BY L.E. Green
……… Lord,
Look on the mothers whose children are nourished
In the bosom, the sucking one lies;
Conceived, begotten and nursed by her
Partakers of sweet lullabies…….
Look on the mothers whose darlings have gone,
Passed away to that “Sweet By-and By,”
Plucked from those arms that held them so tight,
Even now, they wonder – “Lord – Why?”
Look on those mothers from where You’re enthroned
Who alone seek to raise their young ones;
Single – struggling; seeking survival
Waiting for a change to come.
Look down on fatherless, deformed orphans,
Intervene through Mercy and Grace;
Give limbs, organs, love beyond degree
Reveal your merciful face.
It’s Mother’s Day, Lord, as You see and know
Many have sojourned on High;
We miss them sorely, but they’re safe with Thee,
Beyond Your glorious sky.
Dear Mothers, Sweet Women – near and far
What glory you house in your soul;
You care for and nurture God’s cherished ones
By His power, you accomplish His goal.
Oh you spiritual mothers – strong in will!
God sent you children you didn’t bear;
Your love directs these heaven-sent lambs
God commends your genuine care.
Rejoice, rejoice! The Lord is at hand!
The Spirit is riding the tide;
Beckoning to you - "Come closer to Me,
And lean upon My side..."
"I'm Your Rock in a weary land,
Your shelter in times like these;
Woman of faith - hold on....
And never let your prayers cease!"
