What - or whom - do we highly esteem
Man or God?
What has been first with us
Along the path we’ve trod?
Whom can we not live without?
What’s number one without a doubt?
Will we resound with a hearty shout --
“Not someone else, but God?”
This question is not mystical
Nor is it abstract.
Whoever is on the pedestal
Is not sitting in the back.
What is it that precedes the rest
As a priority?
Ambition? Health? Family?
Is God the minority?
What do I love more
Praise of men, or praise of God?
What do I go after?
What do I adore?
Do I esteem the Word
More necessary than meat?
Does finely tailored clothing
Make me feel more complete?
Come now --- let us reason
Face to face with God.
Just who is it we’re pleasing?
Man or God?
What’s driving you or me --
Is it self-gratification?
How do I really measure up?
Who deserves my admiration?
Who is the pilot of my life
And captain of my heart?
Who is it that rescued me
And gave me a brand new start?
Who’s on my heart at early dawn,
Teaching wisdom’s song?
Who sets my pace and leads the way
Forgiving me of my wrong?
Do I show Him that He’s first
And cherished in my soul?
Does the time I spend with Him.......
Manifest His goal?
Do I think......”God understands.....”
And proceed to put Him last......
Then attend ‘important’ chores
‘Til I see the day is past......?
Shouldn’t God be NUMBER ONE......
As supreme as He can be..........
Who’s esteemed first and foremost
In each activity?
All other things come second,
Or maybe not at all.
It’s time to face this challenge,
For it is the highest call.
These hands, these lips, this life.........
The temple of God are we.
And we are Christ’s and Christ is God’s.......
Eternally.
God is before all things!
By Him --- all things consist!
He holds our lives together --
