Doris Ellen Powell
(entered Paradise: 2/28/03)
Your prayers lifted her up to Glory.
No more pain; nothing but peace...
Thank you for praying these past months and weeks.
Her family is so grateful, and so am I.
This poem attempts to show my joy
with God's plan regarding our dear sister, Doris.

This poem attempts to show my joy
with God's plan regarding our dear sister, Doris.
She has entered into peace;
She’s resting in her bed;
Jesus came and got her;
She followed as He led.
Dot, Doris, Dorothy,
She’s known by many names;
This lamb is up in Glory
Without the aches and pains.
She ascended with a peace
That words cannot describe
This brave, courageous, praying soul
Is at her Savior’s side.
We celebrate her life of hope
With songs of joy and praise,
For God has caught her up on high,
To live the rest of her days.
Rejoice and shout; weep no more,
This is what the Word has said;
She has entered into peace;
She’s resting in her bed.

Just sharing……..
You know, I thank God for blessing three of Doris’ friends/sisters to meet me in Georgia, at the beginning of March, where I went to celebrate the homegoing of my 88 yr old cousin.
My cousin’s homegoing was four days prior to Doris’ homegoing in Eufala, AL - about three hours’ drive from Atlanta. God blessed us tremendously. We couldn’t feel sorrowful, seeing all His glorious scenery along the highway, as we drove to be with Doris’ family.
The Lord took us there and blessed us - not one of us knew how we were going to manage this trip, but we wanted to follow Doris’ family home, where she was put to rest, next to her dad, on top of a hill overlooking the highway. You know, about 9 months ago, she and I were praying, and she said God spoke to her about riding the high places of the earth. Well, her soul is certainly in the high place of heaven, and her body buried on a mount-like place, next to the little church her parents went to.
God’s grace was our way of escape from overmuch grief. He told me one day He was coming for one of his lambs. The Bishop and Shepherd of Doris’ soul sent the hook of His staff into the earth to rescue His lamb from the cancerous wilderness in her flesh and from the wilderness of life.
We were blessed to share finances among us. He favored us to have more than enough to fly there, rent a car, and meet a sister we had never before met in Savannah, GA. The trip was a healing experience.
Never before, have I felt the sorrow, the pain of missing someone dear, but yet, joy. The power of God’s love sweeps over the soul and leads you in awesome worship and praise. It’s too amazing to write about. I’m still in a daze at how God comes to the rescue of His little ones, who need help when they suffer a deep loss.
I just wanted to share.
You’re so dear - so very dear. I praise the Lord today.
Yes, you feel the hurt,
The wound has not closed.
In time it will heal;
That’s the way it goes.
Lay your grief in the lap
Of our Almighty King;
Nestle in His bosom;
It’s safe to cling.
He’s the God of hope
And of many tomorrows;
Wipe your eyes and lay aside
Every one of your sorrows.
She lives on.....
In our various memories
Everyone is touched
In varying degrees
Let God assuage your grief,
And lay your thoughts to rest,
Let Him save your soul,
Making each day blessed.
Let not your heart be troubled,
Be of a good cheer.
Draw closer to your Savior,
His strength is ever near.
