No Rest
II Corinthians 2:13
I had no rest in my spirit because I found not Titus my brother.
Paul was expressing the concern he had, because He
couldn't find Titus - one of his spiritual sons in the
faith. Have you ever been like this? Are you
concerned about someone in your life? Is someone you
love in trouble? Do your thoughts keep you awake at
night? If so, then you can certainly relate to the
feelings he was experiencing.
Worry robs you of good health. Overmuch concern and
anxiety cause your physical body to experience
distress. You can't get anything accomplished,
because your mind isn't on what you're doing. You
walk around in a daze, trying to master simple tasks.
Your heart isn't in what you're doing.
To you, God asks the question: "Why art thou cast
down in your soul, when you know your heavenly Father
hears your cry? Be not disquieted, but hope thou in
your God."
Let the Lord give you peace about this situation.
The Bible says all creatures are manifest in His
sight. He knows where our missing loved ones are.
Steadfast faith and fervent prayers will cause the
lost ones to return to their rightful place. Keep
your faith intact! Look not on "how long," but look
at the One who is working all things together for you,
because of your steadfast faith in Him.
Cast your loved one on the Lord, for He cares for you
and for them. All things are naked and opened unto
the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Who better
to confide in, but the Lord? He wants you to give Him
the burden. It is too much for your soul, dear
friend.
Fret not thyself, but rest in Him. He will give you
blessed sleep, if you trust your loved ones to Him.
Take the matter to the altar of God, and leave it
there. Resume your lifestyle, and give praises to the
Lord, for He is taking care of your business. It gets
easier, day by day, as you "turn it all over to
Jesus."
Then just be still, and know that God is God. If He
needs your help, you will know. Remember, He is your
refuge, and the refuge of that one whom your soul
loveth. He is your very present help in trouble, and
He is a present help for that one for whom you are
praying.
Commit your spirit unto the Lord, and take no more
thought on this matter. Trust in the Lord, and He
shall give you rest in your spirit.
As you meditate on these things, may you find a
calmness and a peace that only Jesus can give you.
Let your mind relax, and your heart will become fixed
in the blessed assurance that "all is well."
