Edifying One Another

Romans 14:19

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

You have a valuable legacy from Jesus Christ.  It is
that peace which He left with you.  It's not the same
kind of peace that the military or the UN is fighting
for.  It is the peace of God - a gift for you.  It
will keep you from being troubled about anything, if
you keep your mind stayed on Jesus.

Follow peace with all men.  When someone becomes your
adversary, agree with them quickly while you are in
their presence.  If you humble yourself  you'll
realize the value of saying nothing in your defense.
God will avenge you of your adversary.  Be still, and
know that He is God, and hold your peace.

Don't be angry with a loved one without a cause.  Paul
said we must not let the sun go down upon our wrath.
Anger is a thief, and it comes to steal, kill and
destroy your peace of mind.  It is the enemy's number
one tool.  Forgive that one who is trespassing against
you, and remember that your heavenly Father sees you
humbling yourself.  He shall exalt you in due season.
Love the Lord, thy God, and let your anger and
bitterness go!  Your finite mind cannot serve anger
and God at the same time!  Save thyself from stress!

God is so wise.  He knows that when we follow after
the things which make for peace, and things wherewith
we  edify others, we ourselves will be edified as
well.  Our health will improve.  Our attitude will be
more pleasant.  We will become more contented with our
lifestyles, when we follow peace wholeheartedly!  It
takes practice, so we must be patient with ourselves.

The word  "edify" means to benefit, to improve and to
instruct another morally and spiritually.

When you set yourself to help someone, you're actually
helping yourself.  When you offer spiritual advice,
you're setting yourself up to receive wise counsel
when you need it for your own life.  Whatever a man
sows, that shall he also reap.  This is an eternal law
of God!

Think how edifying it is to do good and lend money,
hoping for nothing again.  Jesus said your reward will
be great and you will be known as the children of the
Highest.

Remember how He was kind when you were unthankful?  O
the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and
knowledge of God!  God's wisdom won you, didn't it?
Then follow the wisdom of this scripture and expect
someone's soul to be saved.  The Son of Peace lives in
you, and He is looking to share Himself with someone
you know - through your obedience and humility.

Look for the Lord to daily load you with benefits,
when you seek peace and pursue it.  A benefit is an
advantage.  You have the "better hand," when you look
out for others, and let the Lord take care of you.
God knows what you need, and desire.  He will take
care of you!

If you, yourself, have fallen and need help in
"getting up," call on Jesus.  Help is on the way!  He,
who is merciful, will send His grace and mercy and
restore you.  Our God specializes in things that are
commonly thought impossible, and He will do what no
other one can do!  Look to the hills, from whence
comes your help!

There is a "Good Samaritan" who wants to put healing
balm on your wounds, and help you as you mend.  God
knows those who are spiritual, and who will restore
such an one in the spirit of meekness.  He will cause
you to meet  saints who love unconditionally - no
questions asked.

Then again, the Word comes today to stir you to look
around and see who needs the spiritual benefits God
has given you.  You might not even think you have
anything to offer someone else, but just ask the Lord
to lead you to be a blessing to your fellowman.  Ask
in faith, believing that when He leads you, you will
be qualified to say and do what is necessary to edify
your "neighbor."

When you love your neighbor as yourself, you're
edifying that person.  When you share food, clothing
and good counsel with the least of men, you're
edifying others.  Inasmuch as you seek to please not
yourself, but others, you're pleasing Christ.

God wants us to take our minds off ourselves, and look
on another person's troubles.  He wants us to care
more for them, than we do for ourselves.  When we
become concerned for another's welfare, we show forth
the Savior's love.

Edification enlightens and frees men from racism,
ignorance and superstition.  The Word of God is the
true source of edification.  The more we study the
Word, the easier it will be to maintain stable,
wholesome relationships with those we love.  Let
superstition be a lie, and let God be true!

And dear one,  let us pray for those who are
intolerant  of anyone who is different from
themselves.  Oh, that the understanding of their minds
might be enlightened by our witness of Christ.

Edification from the Word of God will benefit our
little ones, who need to be nourished up in pure,
wholesome environments.  Let us seek to instruct every
little mind, of every little one, who comes before us.
Jesus loved to bless the little children.  As we so
instruct and train them in "The Way" they should go,
we're saving their lives.  What a blessed opportunity we have, my friend.
