Calvary Covers It All
St. Luke 23:33; Psalm 32:1
And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him. . Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. . Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Mrs. Walter G. Taylor wrote this song – “Calvary
Covers It All,” and it is the Lord’s message to you
and to me today. The Lord surely impressed upon this
dear lady that even though perilous times of the
latter days are upon us, yet Jesus’ blood reigns
supreme.
II Timothy 3:2-4 shows us that God knew the end from
the beginning – that sin would abound because the love
of many would wax cold. But Jesus’ blood covers every
last one of the sins men would even think to commit.
Whosoever is willing - can and shall be saved!
Glory to the Lord!
Our Savior wants us to give more earnest heed to His
Act of Atonement. We weren’t standing where the
beloved disciple, John, and Mary, the mother of Jesus,
were standing, when he forgave those whose wicked
hands had nailed his lovely hands and feet to the
tree. But because of His blood, we have been allowed
the privilege of sitting in heavenly places – with our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We weren’t there when a mocking voice cried out, “You
saved others, now save thyself.”
Little did the princes of the world know that the One
they mocked would arise from the grave and become the
first begotten from the dead. He died to live again!
He became poor, that we might become rich!
Our very Savior offered Himself and His blood for you
and me, through the eternal Spirit. And He lives
forevermore, making intercession for you and for me.
Hallelujah! He arose, with all power to save us –
from the “gutter-most” to the “uttermost.”
Jesus entered in once into the “holy place,” for the
fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable and
murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and
idolaters and all liars. His pure blood can cleanse
all sin. (Revelation 21:8). He is the same –
yesterday, today and forever!
Jesus sanctified us from all types of disobedience:
His blood covers it all.
I Corinthians 6:9-11 speaks of the sinful acts for
which His stripes and grief atoned: fornicators,
idolaters, adulterers, effeminate, abusers of
themselves with mankind, thieves, covetous, drunkards,
revilers, and extortioners. . .such were some of us,
but Calvary covers it all . . now, we are washed, we
are sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord
Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
His one act at Calvary, is even now bringing in more
sons and daughters into the Body of Christ. There’s
no sinner too low, too evil or too sinful that Jesus
does not love. How comforting this thought is as we
consider the depths of darkness, into which even our
loved ones have sunk.
God is Able to save!
Jesus’ love reaches into tribes, villages, and other
areas of unreached peoples. His love soars to the
mountains and dips down into the valleys, where all
manner of people live. Because He lives, they will
come to believe the words of the song: “. . Jesus
alone, for my sin did atone . .my past with its sin
and stain, my guilt and despair. . Jesus took on Him
there, and Calvary covers it all. . “
Prayer: “O, Jesus – You’re the precious Lamb of God,
who loves us so much, you offered your spotless self.
You purged our conscience from dead works. Your blood
cleansed us and we are free, free, free! What a
privilege, what a joy divine, to be able to serve the
living God!”
“The sins of our loved ones, which are many, could
have taken them to an early grave, but your love has
covered them too. And if any of us sin, we have an
Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Thank you Lord!
