Be Thorough - Not Hasty
Ecclesiastes 7:8
Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
God created the world in six days, and rested on the
seventh day. He could have completed it
supernaturally in a moment of time. He is our example
of diligence and thoroughness.
He wants us to determine a thing, and carry it through
to the end. Each day is given to us to prosper
therein. When we have goals and tasks, it is more
beneficial to our health, if we set time constraints
which are practical. It is harmful to our spiritual,
emotional and mental health when we are rash,
impatient and irritable. Haste leaves imprints in our
spirits and our souls.
Our all-wise heavenly Father wants us to do as He did:
take a task and set a time limit for it, and
accomplish it. He separated the darkness, from the
light. He had a vision first.
Without a vision, we don't have a plan. Solomon
determined to build a temple. He counted up the cost
first. Then he began the work. When he finished the
Lord's house, he started work on his own house. He
got the job done.
God wants us to go get those projects or
works-in-progress we started, and finish them - once
and for all. If we take our time, and exercise
patience, the work will be done with excellence.
What a great feeling - to complete something, all by
yourself! If the Holy Spirit is acknowledged, the
work, the goal, or the task will be prosperously
effected. When we experience the joy of completing and
finishing what we begin, we will be more equipped for
bigger and better opportunities He has waiting for us.
Being thorough is a virtue. It requires patience and
diligence. Haste is a thief. It is a mark of
immaturity. Wrath and unreasonable anger are symptoms
of a hasty spirit. Others will characterize us as
incompetent, reckless and irritable. If God had
created our wonderful world with its celestial and
terrestrial glories, in a hurry, everything would be
total chaos. Each day, God appointed something
specific to be accomplished. The Bible says: "And
God saw everything that He had made and behold, it was
very good."
It is wise to be thorough in our planning, and we too
will see things we create or oversee, and they will be
good as well. This requires carefulness and
painstaking effort, whether we are working on a long
term or a short term task.
The Word comes to urge us to be patient in our spirit,
and to plan more efficiently in our lives. This will
bring sheer satisfaction to our souls. God was
pleased, when He finished with creation. He rested
from His works. When we set goals which are
obtainable, and actually complete them, we too will
experience the joy our Father wants us to feel. We
too will enter into that blessed rest of faith and
success.
This is His will for you and for me, my friend.
